MARION, Ill. — The National Weather Service calls for nothing but sun from here through Thursday, with light winds holding steady in the single digits.
Today, Tuesday, stays sunny with a high near 99°F, falling slightly to around 97 in the afternoon as southwest winds run 3 to 7 mph. Tonight clears entirely, with a low around 75 and winds backing off to 2 to 6 mph.
Wednesday mirrors today: sunny, high near 99, with south-southwest winds between 2 and 8 mph. The following night stays clear, dropping to 74. Thursday holds the pattern — sunny, high near 99, winds 1 to 7 mph.
The real story is the heat. Three consecutive days at or near 99°F is serious business, especially with low humidity overnight. Drink water frequently. Check on elderly neighbors and anyone without air conditioning. Heat stress is no small thing in Williamson County.
