Williamson County Forecast: Sunny Stretch Holds Before Friday's Storm Chance
Clear skies through Thursday give way to a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms Friday, per the National Weather Service.

MARION, Ill. — Step outside this morning and you'll find the kind of sky Williamson County likes to see in July: mostly sunny, dry, and calm. The National Weather Service calls for a high near 84 today, easing back to around 82 by afternoon, with a light north-northeast wind around 10 mph. Nothing threatening in that mix — good porch-sitting weather for Marion, Herrin and Carterville alike.
Tonight stays quiet. Partly cloudy skies, a low around 62, wind barely stirring at 2 to 9 mph out of the northeast.
Thursday holds the same pattern — sunny, high near 81, dropping to 79 in the afternoon. Thursday night brings more of the same calm: partly cloudy, low around 62.
The change comes Friday. The Weather Service flags a slight chance of rain showers between 1 and 4 p.m., then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms into the evening, with a 20% chance of precipitation during the day. That chance climbs to 50% Friday night as showers and storms become more likely, skies turning mostly cloudy, low around 66.
Nothing severe is in this outlook. But it's the first break in the pattern we've had all week — worth keeping an eye on as Friday nears.
