Sunday brings heat to the county. The National Weather Service forecasts mostly sunny skies with a high near 98 degrees, but the real concern is the heat index—values climbing as high as 109 with the humidity. A southwest wind around 5 to 8 miles per hour will offer little relief. Drink water. Check on neighbors.
Tonight holds a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, heaviest before 11 p.m. Nothing organized is shaping up, but if you hear thunder, take shelter. Temperatures will drop only to around 73 degrees, with heat index values still reaching 106.
Monday the threat ends. A slight chance of showers before 7 a.m., then partly sunny skies as a northwesterly wind pushes temperatures down to around 89 degrees. Tuesday clears completely—sunny, with a high near 92.
