Heat arrives Thursday. The National Weather Service forecasts a high near 99 degrees, with temperatures settling around 97 by afternoon. Light west-southwest winds at 2 to 7 miles per hour offer little relief from the warmth. Tonight will clear but cool only to about 74 degrees—still muggy.
Friday stays hot, with a high near 98 and mostly sunny skies. There's a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 4 p.m., but most of the day should stay dry. Winds will be light from the west, nearly calm.
Saturday mirrors Friday: sunny, hot, with a high near 98 and a light southwest wind.
