Warm and partly cloudy tonight, with a low near 80 rising to 82 before dawn. Southwest winds around 6 miles per hour.
Tomorrow the heat will be the story. Mostly sunny, high near 97, with an afternoon heat index climbing to 110. That's serious heat, and it holds through the afternoon — northwest winds 6 to 10 miles per hour won't do much to cut it. If you're outside, drink water and take breaks in the shade. The young, the elderly, and anyone working hard are at risk.
Wednesday brings the relief: sunny and cooler, high near 89, with temperatures easing off the mid-90s peak we saw Tuesday. Wednesday night clears and cools to 65.
Thursday stays sunny and pleasant, high near 90.
According to the National Weather Service, nothing severe threatens the area through Thursday. But tomorrow's heat index is worth respecting.
