MARION, Ill. — Tonight will be mostly cloudy, with a low around 71 degrees. According to the National Weather Service, the real story of your weekend comes with the heat.
Sunday brings only a slight chance of showers or thunderstorms between 9 and 11 a.m. — a 20 percent chance — then partly sunny skies. The high reaches 95 degrees, but heat index values will climb to 107.
The danger peaks Monday. Mostly sunny conditions, a high near 99, and heat index values as high as 111 will make extended outdoor time genuinely risky. A brief 20 percent chance of showers between 1 and 2 p.m. offers little relief.
Tuesday brings slight easing, with sunny skies and a high near 95.
This is serious heat. Stay hydrated. Check frequently on elderly neighbors and young children. Limit outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours.
