Weekend Closure Coming to Illinois 37 South of Marion
Culvert replacement will shut down both directions starting July 24

MARION, Ill. — Drivers south of town have a detour to plan around this week.
The Illinois Department of Transportation says a culvert replacement project in Williamson County will require a full weekend closure of Illinois Route 37 in both directions, according to the Southern Illinoisan. The closure begins Friday, July 24, and covers a stretch about 1.25 miles south of Marion, between Maxine Lane and Memphis Lane.
Culvert work doesn't make headlines like a courthouse scandal, but it's the kind of infrastructure job that decides whether a farm truck or an ambulance gets where it's going on time. IDOT has not said when the road will reopen, and area drivers should plan alternate routes for the weekend.
The closure was also reported by Prezly.com.
