Water Main Break Sends Carterville Under Boil Order, Pushes Back Logan College Opening
City and college scramble as a broken main disrupts service ahead of the fall term
By Verna Slate, Williamson County Bureau
CARTERVILLE — A water main break has put the city under a boil water order and forced John A. Logan College to delay the opening of its campus, according to WSIL-TV.
Details on the scope of the break and the timeline for repair were still developing, but the disruption lands at an inconvenient moment — with students and staff gearing up for the fall semester at the county's community college.
Residents under the order should boil tap water before drinking or cooking with it until the city lifts the advisory. This bureau will update as Carterville and Logan College confirm when normal service, and normal class schedules, resume.
