Skovgaard sisters represent High Image Dance at Dance The World Broadway event

HERRIN, Ill. — Three sisters from Herrin danced on a Broadway stage Friday morning, a long way from any studio floor in Williamson County.
According to the Southern Illinoisan, the Skovgaard sisters represented Herrin's High Image Dance studio at Dance The World Broadway, an international performance event that draws dancers from across the country and around the world to New York City.
It's the kind of story this county doesn't get to tell often enough — kids from a coal town making it to one of the biggest stages in the country, on their own steam, through a local studio that put in the work to get them there. Herrin has sent plenty of its people out into the wider world over the decades, mostly for jobs the mines couldn't provide anymore. It's a good thing when the reason is a Broadway stage instead.
No further details on placement or scoring were reported. But three sisters from Herrin got to say they danced in New York City, and that's worth a mention on its own.
