MARION, Ill. — It's been a busy stretch for Williamson County law enforcement.
A man was arrested after a 115-mile chase across the county, KFVS12 reports. Separately, WPSD Local 6 reports deputies are searching for a wanted man in the county, and that an enclosed trailer loaded with tools was stolen. In a more serious matter, WPSD Local 6 also reports that a person of interest has been identified in a homicide investigation in the county, while WSIU News reports a death investigation is underway in a rural part of the county.
On the safer end of the ledger, WPSD Local 6 reports deputies managed to stop a pregnant woman's runaway vehicle from going into a lake after her car's brakes malfunctioned — a save that ended well in a county that doesn't always get to say that.
Separately, KFVS12 reports a Traffic Safety Campaign is set to begin in Williamson County.
The American Times will follow the homicide and death investigations as they develop; those are the cases that matter most, and the ones this desk won't let go quiet.
