JOHNSTON CITY, Ill. — A school bus crash in Johnston City sent students to area hospitals Friday with minor injuries, according to KFVS12.
Details on the cause of the crash, and how many children were aboard, were not included in the initial report. What's clear is that Johnston City parents got the kind of phone call nobody wants — and that this time, by all early accounts, the news wasn't the worst it could have been.
School bus safety is not an abstraction in a county that has buried too many of its own in car and mine accidents over the decades. The American Times Press will update this report as the Johnston City school district and local authorities release more information about the crash and the students involved.
