Quiet Skies Tonight, Weekend Storms and Rising Heat Ahead
National Weather Service calls for a mild, calm overnight before a warm-up brings scattered thunderstorms this weekend and a hot Sunday to Williamson County.

MARION, Ill. — Nothing urgent in the sky tonight, and that's worth saying plainly. The National Weather Service calls for partly cloudy skies overnight, a low around 62, and calm wind. Temperatures actually creep back up to near 64 before morning.
Friday brings sunshine, a high near 83, and a light northeast breeze — a good day to get outdoor work done in Marion, Herrin or Carterville. But watch the evening. The National Weather Service says a slight chance of showers moves in between 9 and 10 p.m., followed by a chance of showers and thunderstorms overnight, with lows near 67 and a 40 percent chance of precipitation.
That unsettled pattern holds into Saturday, with showers and thunderstorms possible through the day and a high near 87. Nothing in this forecast points to severe weather, but keep half an eye on the radar if you're planning to be outside.
Sunday clears out mostly sunny, with the mercury climbing to near 95. Plan for the heat.
