Sheriff's office calls blast on McGinnis Street a 'rapidly evolving incident'

ENERGY, Ill. — A house on McGinnis Street came apart Tuesday night, and one person did not survive it.
The Williamson County Sheriff's Office described the residential explosion as a "rapidly evolving incident," according to the Southern Illinoisan. ABC7 Chicago reports the blast happened near West College and McGinnis streets. One witness described the sound as "the loudest thing I've ever heard," the Southern Illinoisan reported.
The sheriff's office is investigating the cause. No further details on the victim's identity had been released as of press time.
One family in Williamson County is grieving tonight, and a village named Energy is left sorting through what happened on its own street.
