MPD's new training simulator replicates real-world calls
Marion police get a screen-based tool sharper than anything they've had
By Verna Slate, Williamson County Bureau
MARION, Ill. — The Marion Police Department's new virtual training simulator may look like a bank of screens, but department officials say it's far more complex than any training tool they've had before, the Southern Illinoisan reports.
The simulator is designed to replicate real-world calls, giving officers a way to run through scenarios before they meet them on the street.
The Southern Illinoisan reports the department acquired the state-of-the-art system recently, with further detail on its capabilities available in the paper's coverage.
