July 28, 2026 — Slim pickings today. No wire report crossed our desk with a specific index level, a percentage move, or a hard price on U.S. equities, bonds, or commodities. When that happens, we say so rather than pad the column.
One item touching the corporate and energy sector: NANO Nuclear Energy put out a press release saying its KRONOS MMR™ program is moving forward, with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission said to be starting formal review activities alongside the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. That's the company's own characterization. According to a press release from NANO Nuclear Energy — the only source describing the NRC's review activity this way — the Press could not independently confirm the agency's involvement. We checked for corroboration from the NRC's public docket or a commission spokesperson and found none available at filing time. Until that changes, treat the regulatory-progress claim as unverified company messaging, not confirmed fact. If it holds up, it matters — small modular reactor technology is drawing real investor and policymaker attention. If it doesn't, that matters too.
Outside of that, today's available coverage ran to regional, community, and opinion pieces — not the kind of corporate or economic news that moves a portfolio. Nothing on major indices, no earnings news, no Federal Reserve action, no fresh macroeconomic data releases.
Given how thin the sourcing was today, this wrap stays short on purpose. Fuller market coverage resumes when the numbers do.
Somebody's paying for this. Let's find out who.
