Trading news was thin on Wednesday, with investors' attention centered on Washington's upcoming inflation reading rather than any major swings in the market narrative.
Inflation in focus. According to CBS News, the Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) price index — the Federal Reserve's preferred inflation gauge — was set for release Wednesday morning. Jessica Inskip, director of investor research at Stockbrokers.com, told CBS's "The Daily Report" that the report will offer a fresh read on the state of inflation across goods and services, a data point traders are likely to parse closely for clues on the Fed's next moves.
Tech and corporate notes. CNBC reported that Amazon is shutting down Mechanical Turk, the crowdsourced task-farming platform that Jeff Bezos once dubbed "artificial artificial intelligence" when it launched back in 2005. The closure marks the end of a long-running, if niche, corner of Amazon's business.
Beyond those items, there was little additional company- or sector-specific market news in today's coverage. With no broad equity-index figures or price levels confirmed in the day's reporting, a fuller market picture will likely take shape once the PCE data lands and markets react.
