MARION, Ill. — Two days of dangerous heat are coming to Williamson County, with heat index values climbing above 105 degrees.
Tonight stays mostly clear with a low around 77 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. South southwest winds at 8 mph. Calm, but it's the beginning of a hot stretch.
Tuesday brings a slight 20 percent chance of rain showers between 8 and 10 a.m., then sun takes over. The high reaches 97 degrees, but the heat index—what it actually feels like in the humidity—will hit 105. Southwest winds 8 to 12 mph with gusts to 18 mph.
Wednesday tightens the heat further. A 20 percent chance of early showers or thunderstorms, then mostly sunny. High near 98 degrees, heat index up to 108. That's dangerous heat, particularly for those working outdoors or without air conditioning.
Thursday eases back to a high near 96, with a 20 percent chance of morning showers or storms.
If you're outside during peak heat hours, stay hydrated. Check on neighbors in homes without cooling.
