MARION, Ill. — Marion High School has promoted Mieldezis to lead its volleyball program, the Southern Illinoisan reports. The new era got a hard early test: Althoff dropped Marion to remain atop the conference standings, according to the Belleville News-Democrat.
Stepping into a head-coaching job is never easy, and doing it against a team that's sitting on top of the conference makes for a rough welcome. Marion's new coach will have chances to build against softer competition, but Althoff's win is a marker of where the bar sits this season.
