MARION — Marion's mall is getting a makeover as part of the city's proposed entertainment district, according to WPSD Local 6.
The station's report offered no specifics on scope, cost, location details, or which tenants might be affected.
An entertainment-district designation suggests the city wants more out of that property than storefronts — bars, restaurants, maybe events, the kind of mixed-use gamble plenty of malls elsewhere have tried with mixed results. Marion's version of that bet is still on the drawing board.
Residents with a stake in what happens to the property — shoppers, employees, nearby business owners — will want more detail than a headline gives. The American Times will keep pressing city hall for it.
