MARION, Ill. — The west side of Marion is booming, and the city's roads are starting to show it. City officials have applied for traffic improvement grants to prepare for an expected surge in visitors tied to rapid business growth in that corridor, the Southern Illinoisan reported.
The application is part of a broader push to keep infrastructure ahead of Marion's expanding commercial footprint on the west side, according to the Southern Illinoisan. No word yet on which projects would be funded or when work might begin.
