HARRISBURG, Ill. — Every unbeaten team knows the night is coming. For John A. Logan College volleyball, it came Wednesday at Southeastern Illinois College.
The zero in the loss column for the Volunteers wasn't going to last forever, the Southern Illinoisan reported — but it's how the streak ended that stung. Logan dropped its first match of the season on the road at SIC, a result that snapped what had been a clean start to the year.
John A. Logan College's athletic programs are a point of local pride here. A first loss doesn't erase a good season. It just means the Volunteers now know exactly what beating them looks like, and so does everybody left on the schedule.
No word yet on how Logan responds in its next outing, but a program with this much invested in its record doesn't take a loss lying down.
