Logan College Band to Mark 250 Years of American Freedom
Free concert set for Sunday at O'Neil Auditorium
By Verna Slate, Williamson County Bureau
CARTERVILLE — John A. Logan College's Community Band will put on a free concert celebrating 250 years of American music and freedom at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 2, in O'Neil Auditorium on the college campus, the college announced.
The program comes as communities across the country mark the nation's semiquincentennial, and the college's band has long been a gathering point for the county's amateur and community musicians.
Admission is free and the concert is open to the public. No further program details were released.
A free afternoon of patriotic music at Logan is a small, welcome kind of remembering, the kind that doesn't require a courthouse or a headline.
