JOHNSTON CITY — Two unbeaten teams walked in Friday night, and only one walked out that way. Johnston City held off Flora 30-19 in a Black Diamond Conference showdown, improving to 5-0 on the season while the Wolves slipped to 4-1, according to the Southern Illinoisan.
It's the kind of game that decides more than a single Friday — it keeps Johnston City in the driver's seat for the conference race with the season's toughest stretch still ahead. The Indians have carried their undefeated record through a schedule that hasn't given them much room to coast, and Friday's win over a fellow unbeaten squad is the clearest measuring stick yet.
