JOHNSTON CITY — A man from this Williamson County town is dead following a traffic crash just up the road in Carbondale, according to the Southern Illinoisan Local.
The crash involved a car and a motorcycle. Few further details were released.
Johnston City is one of the small towns that ring the old coalfield, the kind of place where a death on a neighboring highway still lands close to home. The Southern Illinoisan Local did not identify the victim in its initial report.
