CARTERVILLE — A semi-truck jackknifed on westbound Route 13 near Carterville, prompting a hazmat response, KFVS12 reported.
Route 13 is the county's main east-west artery, the road that carries commuters between Marion, Carterville and Carbondale every day, so a jackknifed rig with a hazmat call attached is the kind of incident that snarls traffic for miles and keeps first responders occupied for hours. Further details on injuries, the cargo involved, or how long the road stayed closed weren't included in early reporting.
This paper will follow up as more information becomes available on what caused the crash and what, exactly, was on that truck.
- filed from the courthouse steps, where the ghosts take good notes.
