HERRIN, Ill. — Hope Fest is back this weekend, running Sept. 12-13 and raising money and awareness for Herrin House of Hope, according to KFVS12.
House of Hope exists for people in the county who need a hand up, not a handout, and a festival built around that mission is as good a use of a September weekend as this town has.
Details on specific hours and events were not included in available reporting, but organizers are billing the two-day run as the festival's return, suggesting this isn't its first year on the calendar. For a county that has watched plenty of institutions come and go with the coal, an event that keeps coming back is worth showing up for.
