HERRIN — A community turned out and a charity took in more than $100,000 for its trouble. Hope Fest, a fundraiser benefiting the Herrin House of Hope, cleared the six-figure mark this year, according to WPSD Local 6.
The Herrin House of Hope has long served as one of the county's steady hands for families in need, the kind of local institution that keeps running on volunteer hours and community goodwill long after the bigger headlines move on. A six-figure haul from a single event is no small feat for an organization built on that model.
