HERRIN, Ill. — The Herrin Tigers girls tennis team had itself a week. The Tigers knocked off the Benton Rangerettes 7-2 and the Mt. Vernon Rams 8-1 in dual-match play, improving to 2-4 on the fall season, according to the Southern Illinoisan.
A two-win week is a two-win week no matter the record, and for a program still finding its footing this fall, back-to-back dual victories over county-area competition count for something. Benton fell by five points; Mt. Vernon fell by seven — the kind of lopsided results that suggest the Tigers are rounding into form as the season moves toward its stretch run.
