HERRIN, Ill. — The Herrin Tigers take on the Breese Central Cougars in a preview matchup this season, according to MaxPreps, giving Herrin fans another Friday night to circle on the calendar.
Herrin doesn't need much of an excuse to fill the stands — this is a coal town that turned Herrinfesta Italiana into a Memorial Day tradition and treats high school football with the same loyalty it once gave the union hall. The Tigers-Cougars matchup gives the town a fresh test against out-of-conference competition.
