HERRIN — Herrin House of Hope is reopening its doors tomorrow, according to KKTV, days after the death of the woman who founded it.
For a nonprofit built around one person's stubborn will to feed her neighbors, that reopening matters. Herrin has leaned on the House of Hope through mine closures, layoffs, and every lean winter since it opened. That it's coming back so soon after losing its founder says something about who's left to carry it forward.
