Herrin House of Hope Receives $20,000 Grant to Combat Food Insecurity

Nonprofit was one of 10 statewide organizations chosen for the funding

HERRIN — Herrin House of Hope, a local nonprofit that runs a daily soup kitchen, a thrift store and a food pantry, has received a $20,000 grant aimed at combating food insecurity, the organization announced.

The grant made Herrin House of Hope one of just 10 nonprofits across Illinois selected to receive the funding. Nonprofit leaders said the money will help support the organization's ongoing work feeding and assisting families in the Herrin area struggling with hunger.

Herrin House of Hope has long served as a community resource hub in Williamson County, combining emergency food assistance with a thrift store that helps fund its programs.
