HERRIN - Herrin House of Hope has started offering a to-go service, WSIL-TV reports, giving people who rely on the pantry and meal program a faster way to get what they need out the door.
House of Hope has long been one of the quiet backbones of this town - the kind of place that doesn't make the county board agenda but keeps families fed between paychecks all the same. A to-go option won't change what the organization does, but it changes who it can reach: the shift worker on a lunch break, the parent with a car full of kids, the retiree who can't stand in a line the way they used to. In a county where the mines that once anchored steady wages are long gone, that kind of flexibility is its own form of infrastructure.
