MARION, Ill. — Williamson County came through a violent storm without losing anyone, but not without a fight. An EF3 tornado ripped through the county, injuring seven people, according to WPSD Local 6. No deaths were reported.
Separately, KFVS12 reports storm damage closed roads and damaged structures across the county.
An EF3 is a serious storm, capable of tearing roofs off and snapping trees, and seven injuries is seven too many, but the absence of fatalities is the number that matters most tonight.
Cleanup crews and road crews are working to reopen closed routes and assess damaged structures. The American Times will update as county officials release more on the scope of the damage and the recovery timeline.
