Deaconess Illinois launches new charitable foundation
Marion-based health system sets up a nonprofit arm

MARION, Ill. — Deaconess Illinois has announced the formation of the Deaconess Illinois Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization dedicated to advancing health care and improving the lives of patients, families and communities across southern Illinois, according to the Southern Illinoisan.
The foundation gives the health system a formal vehicle for fundraising and community giving in a region where hospital access and rural health care have long been strained. Further details on the foundation's initial projects or leadership weren't included in the initial announcement.
