Clear Skies Give Way to Weekend Storm Chances in Williamson County
Sunshine holds through Thursday before showers and thunderstorms move in Friday night and linger into Saturday, the National Weather Service says.

MARION, Ill. — The sky over Williamson County was clear and quiet Wednesday night, with lows dropping to around 63 under a light northeast breeze, according to the National Weather Service.
Thursday holds that calm. Expect plenty of sunshine and a high near 81 in the afternoon — comfortable air for anyone in Marion, Herrin or Carterville with outdoor plans. Clouds build back in Thursday night as the low settles near 62.
Friday stays mild and mostly dry through the day, partly sunny with a high near 84. But the Weather Service flags a real change after dark: showers and thunderstorms likely after 7 p.m., with a 60 percent chance of precipitation overnight into a low around 67. That risk carries into Saturday, when storms are likely before 1 p.m., tapering to a slight chance later, ahead of a high near 89.
Nothing severe is flagged in this forecast, but Friday night into Saturday is the stretch to watch. Keep an eye on the timing if you're planning to be outdoors.
