CARTERVILLE, Ill. — Turn on the tap in Carterville this week and you might have gotten nothing. Twice in a matter of days, water customers here lost service to a main break, and Mayor Brad Robinson says he knows why.
Robinson told the Southern Illinoisan the underlying cause of the repeat outages should be resolved soon, though the city has not detailed what caused the breaks or when service will be fully stabilized.
Two main breaks in one week is the kind of thing that tests patience — and pipes. For now, the mayor's message is simple: help is coming. Residents who've had to boil water or haul jugs from the store are waiting to see it arrive.
