CARTERVILLE — The Lions didn't need a full four quarters to make their point Friday night. Juniors Jack Dodson and Gavin Johnson turned in career nights as a pass-catching combo, more than enough offense to send Carterville past visiting Salem 45-0 in a shortened Homecoming victory, according to the Southern Illinoisan.
The win pushes Carterville to 5-0 on the season, a start that has this Lions squad squarely in the conversation among the region's best. For a town that fills the stands every Homecoming Friday, a 45-point rout on the scoreboard is the kind of night that gets talked about at the diner counter well into next week.
Carterville's offense has been finding its rhythm through the air, and Friday's game only sharpened that reputation heading into the tougher stretch of the schedule still to come.
