CARTERVILLE — The investigation into a Carterville coach accused of sexual abuse has moved well past a personnel file. Investigators have issued subpoenas targeting the football coach who was placed on leave, according to NPR Illinois, and the coach carries a documented history of prior disciplinary action, Capitol City Now reported.
ABC7 Chicago reported that a Carterville school employee was placed on leave for sexual abuse — but only after more than a year had passed since the FBI first received a tip. That gap between tip and action is the kind of detail this county doesn't forget, and it's the kind school boards get asked about at the next public meeting, not the last one. The reports reviewed here don't make clear whether the coach named in the NPR Illinois and Capitol City Now reporting and the school employee named by ABC7 Chicago are the same person or two separate individuals — a football coach is, after all, a school employee.
