CAMBRIA, Ill. — The Cambria Village Board appointed Christine Dakin to fill former Trustee Marshall Brown's vacant seat Tuesday, restoring enough members for the board to conduct village business, according to the Southern Illinoisan.
Small-town boards like Cambria's run on thin margins — lose one member and the whole village can stall out on routine business until a seat gets filled. Dakin's appointment gets Cambria back to a working quorum.
The Southern Illinoisan did not report additional detail on Dakin's background or the reason for Brown's departure in what was made available to this bureau. This bureau will keep an eye on the board's next agenda now that it's back at full strength.
