CAMBRIA, Ill. — Cambria Trustee Marshall Brown has resigned from the village board, tendering his resignation Monday after months of pushing back against calls that he step aside, the Southern Illinoisan reports.
Brown had held firm against the pressure for months before the reversal. The Southern Illinoisan's report did not detail the underlying dispute that prompted the resignation calls in the first place.
Small-village boards like Cambria's rarely make news beyond their own town limits, but a trustee holding out against sustained public pressure — then folding — tells its own story about how thin the margin for error is in local government here.
