CAMBRIA, Ill. — Fixing a drainage problem sounds simple enough: clean a ditch, swap out a culvert, get the water moving. But it's rarely that easy, the Southern Illinoisan reports.
The village is now planning for long-term drainage improvements, according to the report.
Cambria is a small town, one of the many that ring the old coalfield, and small towns don't have deep pockets for infrastructure. Whatever the village settles on, it's a problem residents will be watching closely — water doesn't wait for budget cycles.
