At Least 27 Killed in Bangkok Bar Fire Near Chatuchak Market
Blaze at the Na Ladprao pub trapped patrons who fled into bathrooms as flames engulfed the venue.
At least 27 people were killed and 63 others injured, many of them critically, when a fire tore through a crowded bar in northern Bangkok early Monday, Al Jazeera reported.
The blaze erupted around midnight at the Na Ladprao pub near the city's Chatuchak market, according to Al Jazeera. The Washington Examiner reported that 22 people were in critical condition following the fire, which sent patrons fleeing into bathrooms at the back of the venue as flames spread through the building.
The BBC's South East Asia correspondent visited the site, where the disaster has revived concerns over lax fire-safety enforcement at entertainment venues in the Thai capital, Al Jazeera reported.
