FBI investigates incident at Manhattan building that houses an ICE office
A U.S. Army veteran was taken into custody Monday after authorities said he set off fireworks and ignited a fire outside a federal building in Manhattan that houses an ICE office, according to CBS News and NBC News.
The suspect, identified as 43-year-old Andrew Arrabaca, allegedly used a bundle of fireworks, an airsoft rifle and an incendiary liquid to target the building, NBC News reported. The FBI is investigating the incident.
No injuries were reported in connection with the fire. Federal authorities did not immediately release additional details about a possible motive.
The incident adds to a string of episodes this year involving federal buildings and immigration enforcement facilities amid heightened tensions over ICE operations nationwide. Investigators continued to gather evidence Monday as the case moved forward.
